SICILY! It's more than an island! Discover Sicily and discover the world. The world's first multicultural society, Sicily is Italy's most historically cosmopolitan region having been ruled by Asians, Africans and Europeans. Sicily is black and white and a million shades of gray. There's no other place on Earth like Sicily. The island is a unique place full of art, archeology, history, folklore and breathtaking scenery. And, of course, great food. Sicily is almost a nation unto itself. The enchanting land was a Greek colony, a Roman province, an Arab emirate and a Norman kingdom. Sicily is Europe, Africa and Asia on one island. And this is reflected in the food. Arancini and caponata, fresh fish with couscous or sardines and fennel; ricotta or pecorino; cassata, cannoli, granita and gelato; grappa, limoncello and marsala wine.

Designed for culinary students, culinary professionals and ‘foodies’, this 9day/7night tour will introduce the travelers to this exciting island rich in history and proud heritage, to its friendly hospitable people, to its agricultural bounty and the rich gifts of the sea. The group will visit a number of town s on the western side of the island, each steeped in history with distinctive cuisine and products, the result of the influence of a variety of inhabitants through time.

The group will stay in double accommodations at the seaside village Citta del Mare. The village offers 5 swimming pools, a full service spa, nightly live entertainment and other amenities. It is conveniently located 20 minutes from the airport and 40 minutes from capital city Palermo. (

  • Visit to award winning olive oil estate Ravida for oil tasting, wine tasting, cooking class and lunch
  • Visit to the town of Salemi to learn about the special handmade lace breads made for the feast of San Giuseppe, tour the town’s ancient castle, church and art museum
  • Afternoon boat tour to the Grotte de Terrasini, caves carved out of the cliffs in the Gulf of Castellammare
  • Visit to Trapani, home of the windmills, to see the sea salt pans where salt is extracted from the sea. Visit a salt producer, learn the process of extracting and packing of sea salt.
  • Visit the Medieval hill town of Erice to learn about special pastries and then enjoy a lesson about the Mediterranean Diet
  • Travel to Marsala to taste the local wines and learn about wine barrel making
  • Wine tastings
  • Tour of capital city Palermo, the Cathedral, and one of the greatest and enchanting theatres of all Europe, Massimo Theatre. Tour a coffee factory, learn to make the perfect cup of espresso and then view the interesting coffee museum. Tour the Il Capo open market.
  • Ferry to the island of Salina in the Eolie Islands for a tour of a caper plantation, a cooking class on the use of capers, lunch of local specialties and a tasting of local malavasia wines.
